Misty is a Cincinnatian, born and raised. She graduated from Colerain High School, got her RN diploma at Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, BSN from the College of Mount Saint Joseph on the Ohio and her MSN, Teaching Certificate, and PhD at the University of Cincinnati. She is passionate about higher education, human rights (including patient rights), autonomy, and pursuing a satisfying and productive life. She has worked in psychiatry for many years, and started in acute inpatient psychiatry in 1985 as a new RN. Misty has been a Psychiatric NP since 2013. She focuses on psychotherapy and existential issues. She has also taught in psychiatric NP Programs, including developing two of them, since 2015.
One of her favorite quotes is, “Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal”, attributed to Albert Camus (a favorite French existentialist).
